Great Manchester Run 2015,Alzheimer's Research UK and Family and Friends
The Reason i chose Alzheimer's Research UK all goes back to the 90's when whilst a teenager i lost my Grandma to Alzheimer's related complications,i never really knew her that well due to family complications but we had just reconnected not long before she was diagnosed so ive always kind of felt cheated out of all those years ahead we could have had,add on top of that my wife also lost her Grandmother to the disease also many years ago
Also a close friend Sara lost her mother earlier this year after a long battle with the disease, and so it made it a no brainer to run this race for that charity in memory of those close to me and also all those out there who lost family and friends to this cruel disease that robs people of the person they love right before their eyes

What Advice would i give?
Whilst taking part in the interview at Wish FM,the interviewer asked me the question "What advice would i give to anyone who was overweight and wanted to lose weight",and its a really hard question to answer as its quite easy for me to say you can do it,but in many cases it takes a spark to make someone want to do it,for me it was my father, but what i can say is it is hard work, some days you could murder a KFC or something but having a goal helps, mine is running for charities,i would say to anyone considering weight loss, think of an achieveable goal something that you can know you can achieve,no point aiming for the moon only to fail,it makes you feel worse and often knocks you back, but at the end of the day if a 20st 11 person can get to 12st 11 without the world ending, its possible for anyone to make a positive change to their lives.

Doing Press about my weight loss and the 3 10k's
Just been into Wish FM to record a segment about my weight loss and the Bolton 10K and upcoming Great Manchester Run, the needs segment will go out on Sunday, also Wigan Evening Post want to write an article too, which is great as it gets the charities out there even more and also spreads my story so if I inspires one person to lose even a little bit of weight it's all good 😊.

Well what a 10K that was, they call it undulating i call it hilly, haha, but i completed it in a extremely respectable Chip time of 53.46,Thank you to Sean Fazackerley for taking part with me and giving me that final push at the end,and thanks to my dad and Auntie Gill, and Cousins Sam and Tina and our Sophie for coming to give us both a bit of cheering,it was all great and helped massively,it was a lovely morning, perfect weather for running, and its definately one i would love to do again
but as for the reason i took part in this particular 10K,The Reason i chose to run for Derian House was around December last year i was formulating this plan of running 3 10K's for 3 different charities during 2015 so i was actively thinking of charities to run for for each of the races,so after i had decided to run Wigan 10K for Joesph's Goal and got a place in the Great Manchester Run courtesy of Alzheimer's Research UK,it left me with Bolton 10K looking for a charity to support, around that time my dad's friend and his wife had a little girl called Lexi-Mae,who was diagnosed with Edwards Syndrome a rare genetic disorder where one in every 10 babies with the condition reach beyond the age of one(the vast majority don't make it beyond three months so shes already defying the odds, the sad part is that the chances of her reaching young adulthood is very rare,so they were told to go home and make memories with her)and they were raising funds for yourselves,so i said i would run for Derian House late last year and announced my plans for the year ahead on Facebook on New Years Day.

Why this Blog Exists
Around early 2014 my father was rushed into hospital with a small heart attack and when i saw him there on the night,as weak as a kitten and not this man who i respected and admired and had looked up to for 34 years i believe that night something started turning in my mind(although it would take a few more weeks after to finally kick in),so early April 2014 i woke up and thought to myself "Right Enough is enough,do i really want to end up the same way,and have my son and wife see me in that way",and decided that moment it was a crossroads, either i stayed the way i was or i make that positive change and do something about it because it was only me that could change myself.
From that moment on i ate less and moved more(weirdly around that time my mother changed jobs and wanted me to walk with her to the Bus Station as she felt unconfortable doing it on her own) i walked on average 10-11k a day and the weight started coming off in spades(4-5lbs a week on a good week,2-3lbs on a not so good one),around August 2014 me and my dad went to an Evening with Uwe Rosler at the DW Stadium in aid of Joseph's Goal and when Paul Kendrick(Joesph's dad) said they were looking for people to run the Wigan 10k on behalf of the charity,i agreed to do it,after the severity of what i had agreed to sunk in(i had not ran since i was a kid and even then i never seemed to be any good at it being this short geeky kid that was never overly into sports) add to that the fact that the 10K was around 7 weeks away i got to training.
And strangely enough the running didnt kill me,the world didnt end,and i actually found i liked it,so by the time i came to September 2014 i felt i was ready for the challenge,so early on the 7th September 2014 i stood there alongside over 2000 people ready to do my first ever 10K,and i completed it in 1.13.51,i felt so proud that i managed to do it,and it validated everything i had done so far, making that change for the better.
Now im here in 2015 weight at 12st 11lbs,having less than a few week ago done my second 10k and mere days away from my 3rd,and i have to say my moods are better i have no more aches and pains and more importantly having raised money for a couple of great charities so far.
